A seafront restaurant has announced it will close for good, just six months after it had opened.

The owners of Colenzo's in Eastern Esplanade, Southend announced this morning the restaurant will close its doors after it took over from the popular spot, Bourgee.

The former business at the site closed in mysterious circumstances in April this year, with it being confirmed a week later the firm had gone into administration.

Colenzo's took over the restaurant in both Southend and Chelmsford.

A spokesman for the restaurant said: "Colenzo’s Southend has closed. If you have an outstanding reservation we will be in touch with you to offer the opportunity to transfer this to our Chelmsford location.

"Any outstanding Colenzo’s Groupon vouchers which have been purchased for Southend can be redeemed at our Chelmsford restaurant or if this is not convenient please contact Groupon for further assistance.

"We do apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The Chelmsford Colenzo's will remain open in its High Chelmer location.
