A cow has died after a lorry overturned at a busy roundabout.

The crashed caused delays at the Brook Street roundabout, connecting the A12 and M25 at around 2.50pm yesterday.

Sergeant Collett, of the Met Police's Roads Policing Unit tweeted, revealing that the lorry was in fact a cattle truck.

They said: "1st Late Turn of 3. Currently on the Brook St roundabout (A12/M25) to an overturned cattle truck. Partial closure in place. Severe disruption on the A12, please avoid the area if you can."

Sergeant Collett has now revealed that one of the 39 cows on-board was killed in the accident.

Emergency services raced to the incident, and East of England Ambulance Service sent three ambulances and an Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

One man was treated at the scene and taken to Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel by road. The air ambulance returned back to the base but two ambulances and two rapid response vehicles remain at the scene.
