TRAVELLERS have pitched up at a field in Langdon Hills, just hours after travelling across Basildon from a park.

The caravans, believed to total around eight, arrived at the Great Berry open space last night, after moving on from Kingswood Park yesterday.

Furious council bosses have urged the Essex County Traveller Unit to take action.

The Echo understands the travellers arrived in Basildon in May, pitching up at the Broadmayne, then moving onto Church Road in Vange, before arriving at the Kingswood park, and now into Langdon Hills.

In leaked emails to the traveller unit from former deputy leader Kerry Smith, it reads: "Can the unit be dispatched first thing on Wednesday morning to attend Great Bery Open Space of Langdon Hills please?

"The travellers that were at Kingswood have now moved on to Great Berry Open Space."
