Winter is a new crime drama series airing on ITV, starring Richard Armitage and Annabel Scholey.
It follows forensic pathologist Dr Ethan Winter (Armitage) as he works with DI Lauren Bell (Scholey) and DS Ellis Daldry (Jamie Kenna) to solve a string of complex murder cases.
The series is based on the French drama Balthazar, which aired for five series between 2018 and 2023.
It has been adapted by David Allison and Mark Greig.
A synopsis for Winter reads: "With his unflinching eye for detail and deep knowledge of the human body, Winter sees what others miss, revealing the secrets the dead leave behind.
"But beneath the charm, wealth and cool exterior, Winter is a man tormented by the violent death ten years ago of someone close to him.
"The case was closed, a man put behind bars.
"But when a recent suicide arrives in the lab bearing a chilling clue that echoes the earlier death, Winter is shaken to the core."
Discussing what excited him about taking on the title role, Armitage shared: "I've never played anyone from the world of forensics before.
"My friend is a defence lawyer and works in that field.
"She’s secretive about her job and I’ve always probed her to tell me more as I’m fascinated.
"So that aspect interested me, as well as the fact that Winter communes with the murder victims.
"The way that he talks to the dead and uses their bodies as a map to find out how they died is so interesting."
Scholey also praised the production team and script.
She said: "I thought the scripts were great, plus I’ve worked with this team before [on The Couple Next Door], who are like a family in Belgium.
"It's such a collaborative place to work, and I was the most relaxed and creative I’ve ever been.
"At rehearsals, [lead writer] David was so open with his script, and we were able to discuss our thoughts about our characters."

When will Winter be on TV?
The first episode of Winter will air at 9pm on Wednesday, September 30 on ITV1.
After that, the remaining five episodes will air in the same timeslot over the coming weeks.
Episodes will also be available to watch on ITVX.
