B&M has launched legal action against Morrisons, accusing the supermarket of intellectual property infringement and breach of confidence.

The claim, filed at the High Court, also names Simon Buckley, a senior buyer of general merchandise at Morrisons.

Court records describe the case as related to copyright and design right.

A spokesperson for B&M said: "B&M has commenced legal proceedings against Morrisons in relation to allegations of intellectual property infringement and breach of confidence.

"We invest significantly in developing our products and protecting our confidential business information and will take appropriate action where we believe those rights have been infringed.

"As the matter is now before the courts, it would not be appropriate to comment further."

No additional details about the claim have been released, and a hearing in the case is yet to take place.

Morrisons declined to comment.
