FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze involving a large number of tyres on waste land in Parkeston.

Crews from Dovercourt were called to Una Road at about 2.05pm on Thursday.

A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said fire control received more than 20 calls to the incident.

He added: "Firefighters have been called to fire involving a large number of tyres that have been left in an area of waste land.

"Firefighters at the scene report that the row of tyres measure approximately 150 metres."

The fire was extinguished by 4pm.

The cause of the fire in unknown.
