SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell is certain the Shrimpers can cope with their hectic schedule.
Tonight’s Checkatrade Trophy clash with Southampton’s under 21 team at Roots Hall will be the first of five fixtures in the space of just 14 days.
But Powell is confident Blues have what it takes to deal with the amount of matches, despite their long list of injuries.
“It will test our powers of recovery and endurance but we have more than enough in the tank to deal with it,” said Powell.
“We will have to be careful but our recovery strategy is good.
“The games are coming thick and fast and we will have to utilise the squad and also bring in some young players if we feel they’re ready. But we hope to have more games in the Checkatrade and the FA Cup.”
