SOUTHEND United fans have their say on the Shrimpers' 2-0 win against Accrington Stanley.

A well needed victory after the recent disappointment. Really thought the boys coped well in tough conditions and got the well deserved and much needed three points before moving onto Rochdale and the rest of the Christmas period.

@kieranrabysufc

Routine victory, hopefully got some confidence back. We needed that.

@bradcooper71696

Great work ethic. We took our chances and had some luck at the back. 3-0 flattered up but a much needed win and goal from Theo Robinson who worked his socks off. Awful conditions.

@manleyst

Vital three points and vital clean sheet. Played well in very difficult conditions. So pleased to see two men up top. The ball sticks much more with two up top. Theo deserves his goal. Cox and Macca stepped up and put in really great performances. That’s better!

@harrisufc

The result flattered us but it was a solid performance in awful conditions. Powell got the tactics right which was encouraging and everyone dug in. Dieng was immense and hopefully Robinson will get some confidence from his finish.

@moorhouse79

Good result and performance in difficult conditions. Robinson proved his critics wrong with a strong display and Mantom and Moore also stood out. Clean sheet a bonus as Accrington looked dangerous.

@strutty27

Good, strong performance. Stanley didn’t deserve to lose by that score but we certainly deserved the win. Usually we would criticise but Robinson was exceptional.

@samgoody23

Hats off to the lads, you wouldn’t put a polar bear out in weather like that but they stuck to the task. Nice to see us take our chances when they came and to also keep it tight at the other end. Critical blocks in either half by Hendrie and Elvis underlined the spirit shown.

@djmikejolly

Even contest and scoreline flattered us. We took our chances and they didn’t. It’s usually the other way round! But with nearly half the squad out injured the three points are crucial as it keeps us mid-table and well clear of the bottom four.

@tommyharris57

The pleasing thing was the three points but thought the best team lost. Accrington - like we have been doing - didn’t take their chances. Dieng and Hyam were badly off form but we welcome a clean sheet.

Very good and vital victory in terrible conditions. Pleasingly took our chances and had a bit of bite/anger about us. Excellent win with a threadbare squad.
