SOUTHEND Saxons will be bidding to end a frustrating three weeks when they host Harpenden in London One North on Saturday.

Southend drew 13-13 at Sudbury last weekend having previously suffered back to back defeats.

And Saxons’ prop forward Collen Smith is keen to be part of an improved display this weekend.

“The last few weeks were frustrating of course for a number of reasons,” said Smith.

“Firstly it is not where we want to perform as a squad.

“We realise that we would need to up our game and sort out that last 10 percent to put a performance together that will make us and our supporters proud.

“Secondly we know we can do better and we expect of ourselves to do better to achieve the goals we set out to achieve.”

Southend head into Saturday’s game sitting fifth in the standings, two places higher than Harpenden.

And Smith is confident of recording a win at Warners Bridge.

“The team and I expect nothing less than a win on Saturday,” said Smith.

“We prepped as best as we could this week to make sure that are on the right side of the scoreboard come Saturday.”
