SOUTHEND United have received more than 30 applications for the vacant managerial role at Roots Hall.

The Shrimpers are still looking to replace Sol Campbell who left the club last week.

And Blues chairman Ron Martin is certainly not short of options.

Southend legend Adam Barrett, who is currently assistant manager at Millwall is among the front-runners for the job and could link up with his former Blues boss Steve Tilson if he is appointed at Roots Hall.

The Shrimpers’ under 23 manager Craig Fagan is also being considered for the position while former Blues captain Kevin Maher has also been linked.

The 43-year-old is currently first team coach at Bristol Rovers.
