SOUTHEND United have completed the signing of striker Simeon Akinola.
Akinola, who scored 16 goals for Barnet last season, has signed a two year deal with the option of a third season at Roots Hall.
And the 28-year-old is determined to impress.
"I’m here and I’m really hungry to prove myself for myself if nothing else," said Akinola.
"I like to get the fans off their seats and I really hope we can do something special.
"League Two is a league I know and am familiar with so I’m hoping that will help me do well.
"I’ve had good seasons both from the left and also up front.
"Last season I was up front and managed to score a good number of goals."
Akinola comes to the club following the departure of Stephen Humphrys.
And he is thrilled to have joined.
"Southend is a massive club," said Akinola.
"I had a conversation with the gaffer and he didn’t really have to sell it to me.
"Hopefully we can kick on this season and do something special."
Akinola scored 16 goals for Barnet last season and has netted 24 goals in 102 appearances in total for the Bees.
The attacker also had a three year spell with Braintree before joining Barnet in 2017.
