DESPITE the transfer window having now closed, Southend United will still be able to add to their squad by bringing in free agents.

Any transfers can of course only be completed should space be made in the Blues squad or the club’s embargo is lifted.

But Echosport has taken a closer look at the players who are currently available to bring in.

GOALKEEPERS

Mark Oxley has made some costly mistakes between the sticks for the Shrimpers this season and there are a number of goalkeepers still available to sign.

Lee Camp is likely to be out of the price range of the Shrimpers but former Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ben Alnwick is still without a club and so too is Conrad Logan.

Former Concord and Canvey Island goalkeeper Josh Vickers is also without a club after leaving Lincoln City where he made 78 appearances.

DEFENDERS

Blues have leaked goals again this season, conceding 16 goals in seven League games.

But there are still centre-backs looking for a new club including former Huddersfield Town defender Joel Lynch and 29-year-old centre back Rhys Bennett who was last with Peterborough United.

Ex Shrimper Simon Francis, who knows Mark Molesley from their time together at Bournemouth, is also without a club after leaving the Cherries but he is unlikely to drop down to League Two.

MIDFIELDERS

Two ex Shrimpers, Will Atkinson and Anthony Wordsworth, are among the midfielders still looking for a new club.

Others include ex Bradford City midfielder Hope Akpan, ex Stevenage man Dean Parrett and former Brighton midfielder Rohan Ince.

STRIKERS

Blues have struggled for goals this season, although very few chances have been created for the forwards.

There are still other strikers available though including Dominic Poleon who was with Blues in his youth and lined up for Newport County and Dover last season.

Others still without a club include Tomer Hemed, Calvin Andrew, Ishmael Miller, Craig Davies, Byron Harrison and, of course, Nile Ranger.

These players are all listed as free agents on transfermarkt.co.uk
